Qigong is an ancient Chinese method of energy work for physical and emotional health and self-cultivation. It uses movement, breath work, visualization, and sound to correct imbalances, calm the spirit, and increase vitality. Most students find it deeply relaxing.
Please join us for this collaborative class. Callie, Lauren, and Naomi will rotate weeks leading students in various Qigong exercises and forms, with the intention of helping students manage internal states, harmonize with nature and the seasons, and learn new ways of understanding and relating with the mind and the body.
Qigong is safe for all to practice, and can be adapted for those with physical limitations.
Teacher Bios
Naomi Jankowitz, MSOM, is a Licensed Acupuncturist who has been studying and practicing Qigong, meditation, and Chinese medicine since 1997. She has studied with several teachers; since 1999, her main influence has been Dr. Liu Dong and Master Liu He and their Ling Gui International Healing Qigong School. Though she is a certified Qi Master in the Ling Gui tradition, she considers herself a beginner, and loves to share what she has learned with others on the path. She is delighted to be collaborating with Callie and Lauren for this offering at Vervain.
Acupuncturist Callie Blackwood graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine with a Master’s of Science of Oriental Medicine. She is the owner of Radiant Earth Acupuncture in Boise. Her path to Chinese Medicine was led by her personal healing journey to find answers to chronic physical ailments and find tangible ways to help protect and restore our planet to a healthy state of being. Her study of Classical Chinese Medicine is woven with a history of Contemporary Dance training, Horseback riding, Yoga, Qigong, Herbs, Acupuncture, Japanese Meridian Therapy, Taiji, 5-Element style acupuncture, Guitar and Shamanic Studies. Since 2021 she has been studying Kirtan singing, chanting and harmonium playing with Sacred Sound Lab and Sheela Bringi. She blends her background, gifts, talents, passions and spiritual practices together thus creating a unique style in the treatment room and in her offerings. Inspired to improve the health and radiance of all beings, she is excited to offer Kirtan song circles, Acupuncture and qigong to the community of Boise.
Lauren Howell, LAc, hails from a lineage that includes a solid foundation in Classical Chinese Medicine and branches towards numerous modalities and tools that support patients on their healing journey. Her approach is holistic, multidimensional, deep, and co-creative. With a Bachelors of Science in Herbal Science and a Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Lauren integrates modalities from Eastern and Western Holistic traditions to support her patients’ unique healing journey. At The Vervain Collective, she will be offering her expertise in holistic beauty with services including Cosmetic Acupuncture, Microneedling, and Facial/Scalp Rejuvination for radiant healthy glowing skin, If you are looking for help with fine lines, wrinkles, lifting the face and jowls, lymph drainage, neck and decolletage creases, treatment of acne scars, dark spots and melasma or even hair loss for men and women with natural products look no further.
