Placerville or Bust!

B ucky Snyder, Mayor of Placerville, will begin with a presentation on the history of Placerville, held in the historic Masonic Hall. He will take guests to the Placerville Cemetery where his granddad is buried, tour the historic Placerville museum and, if available, take guests into an historic home. Depending on time and weather, Bucky will take you to his favorite gold-panning spot for a bit of panning--easy access for all ages. We'll take a lunch break sometime around noon.

Please plan to meet at the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology (IMMG), 2455 Old Penitentiary Rd., Boise, at 7:30am and depart in convoy at 8am. The group will reassemble in Idaho City at the Visitors Center to allow for traffic separations and a rest stop. If you wish to meet up with the group in Idaho City, please be at the Visitors Center before 9:30am. We will launch from there by 9:30am to make our way to Placerville by 10:30.

Bring lunch, drinks and snacks. Wear walking shoes or boots. Dress for the weather. Home in late afternoon.

The Placerville tour is led and narrated by newly elected Mayor, Bucky Snyder, who has a long list of friends from Placerville and who has spent countless days there exploring the history of this mining town. To hear from Bucky is worth the trip because he has insights and stories like no one else.

E veryone must pre-register. Adult Nonmembers of the museum-$20 plus Eventbrite fee , Museum members and kids are free.
