Requirements:
- 12 years to adult
- Hunter Education graduate now not required!!
Upland bird and waterfowl hunting are popular pursuits in Idaho. There are many skills required to be successful in both, but one of the most challenging is the development of wing shooting skills.
In this introductory class, instructors from Snake River Quail Forever will provide basic instruction on wing shooting, addressing firearms safety, shotgun manipulation (e.g., loading and unloading), safe shotgun handling, gun fit, gun mount, stance, sight picture, and more.
The course is designed for shooters who are new to wing shooting. Students will finish the class having hit a few clays and an understanding of wing shooting fundamentals.
The course is open to adult and youths aged 12 years and older. Loaner shotguns, ammunition and ear/eye protection will be provided. Personal firearms and ammunition are not permitted.
The class meets on the Hunter Education range of the Blacks Creek Ranges. We are meeting on the range, not in the classrooms.
Student Course Fee:
Your student fee pays for shooting at the main range for the student & if the student is a minor, then one adult to shoot at the main range (sharing a shooting bench) once your Hunter Education course is completed (adult supervision of minor children is required). Bring your Hunter Education registration confirmation page to show when checking in at the main range. A signed waiver at the main range is required along with ear & eye protection which can be purchased by debit/credit card. Any additional shooters age 18 and older will need to pay the $10 range fee. Adult may supervise up to three minors.
About the Location:
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR RANGE ENTRY: if the course start time/end time is held outside of the normal business operation, an instructor will open the gate at least fifteen minutes prior to the start of class. PLEASE BE ON-TIME AS LATE ARRIVALS COULD BE LOCKED OUT AND UNABLE TO ATTEND THE COURSE. If you are a driver and leave the classroom to return later, the gate may be closed and possibly not opened until the course is over. From Boise, go east (toward Mountain Home) on I-84. Take Exit 64. At bottom of ramp, turn right (west) toward Kuna. Travel 3.7 miles to Blacks Creek Public Shooting range, right side (there is a large yellow range sign at entrance). Drive down the hill past the training center parking lot. At the bottom of the hill, veer off pathed road onto the gravel parking lot and stay right.
