Looking to connect with your child in a creative environment while learning tools for emotional regulation? This Parent (or guardian!)-and-me class will help kids and grownups alike identify, express, understand, and regulate big feelings. Emotions covered include fear, anger, joy, and sadness/grief.

We’ll start each session with an emotional check in followed by a short interactive story time that includes ideas for emotional identification, processing, and regulation. Pairs will then learn 1-3 ways to creatively express the highlighted emotion of the day with a chance to practice each. The session will end with an optional sharing of creative pieces (art pieces, music, movement, poetry, performance etc) and discussion of ways each pair hopes to integrate the learning in their daily lives. Pairs will leave with a better understanding and appreciation of themselves and each other, plus a strengthened bond and connection.

Led by a caring professional (and mother of two) with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts and a Masters of Psychology, this group offers a unique blend of scientific understanding of emotions and the power of creative expression.

Upcoming curriculum:
8/29, Exploring fear/nervousness: helpful ways to express using the arts, healthy reactions, and ways to calm and feel brave
9/26, Exploring anger/frustration: safe ways to express using art and movement, regulation strategies, and ways to repair
10/31, Exploring joy/gratitude: savoring positive feelings and creative celebration
11/28, Exploring sadness/grief: comforting strategies through the arts and connection opportunities
See the "Emotion through Art" listing on our website closer to future dates for more curriculum topics!

All supplies will be provided. Optional to bring:
- A journal/sketchbook for ideas
