Birding Hike: Foote Park Wrens

To secure a place at this event, registration is required. Please make sure ALL fields are filled out on the registration form and a confirmation email is received.

Join the Golden Eagle Audubon Society for a moderate hike through Foote Park and Lydle Gulch. The pace will be slow to allow everyone to enjoy the birds and watch any interesting bird behavior along this riparian area. We can expect to see our migratory spring songbirds like warblers, chats, and Lazuli Buntings as well as House, Canyon, and Rock Wrens. We will travel about 2 miles and plan to cover the entire loop.

Potential Hazards: steep and narrow trails, ticks, and rattle snakes.

Birding Skill Level: All levels of birders welcome, but you may enjoy your time more if you have some experience. Binoculars will be available if needed.
Age: Participants must be 10 years or older to join. Participants younger than 18 must have a parent/guardian present on the hike, and sign the liability release.
Time: 8:00 - 11:00am
What to Bring: Layers for weather, sun protection, comfortable close-toed shoes suitable for hiking, binoculars, snacks if needed, and water. No dogs please.
Meet at the lowest parking lot of Foote Park near the restrooms. (Click on "Meeting Place" to get directions from your location.) Please note that Google Maps may offer you two routes. Take the one that uses Hwy 21 and crosses the Lucky Peak Dam bridge. The other route is not accessible.
Restroom Availability: Vault restrooms are available at the parking lot.
Inclement Weather: If there is steady rain forecast, the trip will be cancelled. If precipitation is light or intermittent, we will proceed as scheduled.
