During the recent wildfire, our hearts were deeply connected to Boiling Spring Lakes. Situated less than a mile from the initial outbreak, our pop-up location experienced the sudden shifts in accessibility as roads closed and reopened due to the fire's unpredictable spread. Throughout that tense weekend, our thoughts were constantly with the community, and we diligently followed the unfolding updates.
Thanks to the incredible dedication of our team members, Jess and Kenzi, we were able to remain open all weekend. We felt it was important to offer a sense of stability during such a disruptive time. Many of you visited us, sharing your personal experiences – stories of evacuation, of cherished belongings packed and ready, of the agonizing uncertainty of potentially losing your homes. We were profoundly moved by your resilience and our hearts ached with you, especially for Jess, who lives in the heart of Boiling Spring Lakes and faced the same fears.
Witnessing the situation firsthand was a humbling experience, highlighting how quickly circumstances can change. The unwavering communication and heroic actions of the fire department were truly astounding. Every time we passed through Boiling Spring Lakes, day and night, the fire department was there – tirelessly battling the flames, digging fire lines, directing traffic, and providing information. It was clear that the entire community, along with support from numerous other counties, united to contain this devastating fire.
The fact that not a single home was lost within the over 1,000 acres affected is a testament to the relentless efforts of the firefighters and volunteers. Their sweat and hard work directly protected our community. For this, we extend our deepest gratitude. So many lives were touched by fear during this wildfire, yet miraculously, no lives were lost. We are profoundly thankful for the bravery and dedication that made this possible.
