Sunday 22nd Walk
Dear Walkers
Richard Stather has offered to lead a walk of about 5 miles around Graffham and Lavington Park and Gillian Stainton has kindly offered to be 'back up'.
The village of Graffham, which was listed in the Domesday Book (1086), contains a recreation ground, a village shop, an Anglican Church which was rebuilt between 1874 and 1887 and an independent school, Seaford College, nearby.
We will meet in the recreation ground car park at 10.45 so we can begin at 11am.
I have provisionally booked a table for 14 at the Foresters Arms in Graffham for 1.15-1.30. If you are eating, the pub has kindly said you may use the pub car park and then walk up to the recreation ground to start the walk. The pub has always looked after us well! As usual, lunch bookings are on a first come, first served basis.
Please let Richard know if you would like to stay for lunch and also let him know if you just intend to walk but not stay for lunch. Bearing in mind car parking, car sharing is always a good idea.
Graffham recreation ground is along a lane adjacent to the war memorial, which is just up the road from the Foresters Arms. �Post code: GU28 0QB.
By car: Either from South via Cocking (A286). After one mile after Cocking turn right into Bex Lane (signposted Heyshott, Graffham) and after the Woodcote pub in Graffham turn left into Graffham village and look for the war memorial close to the Foresters Arms.
Or from the south via the A285 to Duncton. After 1 mile, turn left, signposted Selham, Graffham. After 1.5 miles turn left for Graffham and look for the war memorial just after the Foresters Arms.
