- Schedule:
- Friday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
- Saturday: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
- Sunday: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
- Duration: 3 half days (9 hours total)

Participants will explore the use of local materials to create unique art objects through the traditional craft of papermaking. This course focuses on the sustainable practice of processing invasive plant species into handmade paper, guiding students through every stage of the transformation from raw fiber to finished sheet.

This workshop is led by local community artist Kate Aitchison.

What You'll Learn:
- The traditional craft of papermaking
- Sustainable processing of invasive plant species
- Transformation from raw fiber to finished sheet
- Creating unique art objects with local materials

What's Included:
- All materials and supplies
- Use of professional papermaking equipment
- A collection of your handmade papers to take home

What to Bring:
- Comfortable clothes that can get wet
- Apron (optional)
- Any special items you'd like to incorporate into your paper (dried flowers, leaves, threads, etc.)

Capacity: 10 participants maximum

Ticket types

Weekend Pass (Adult) – $125

No accommodation included.

Weekend Pass with Accommatio Pass(Adult) – $155

2 nights of accommodation (Camping or indoor—see details below).


No prior experience necessary.



EXCLUSIONS & MEAL PLANNING
  • Transportation: Participants are responsible for arranging their own travel to and from the Bluff campus.
  • Meals: Attendees are responsible for their own meals throughout the weekend.
  • Kitchen Facilities: A full kitchen equipped with cooking utensils is available on-site for all participants. You are welcome to bring your own ingredients and use this space to prepare your individual meals.


For Overnight Guests:

  • Gear: Camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag) OR inquire early about limited indoor accommodation.
  • Clothing: Warm layers (desert temperatures drop significantly at night).
  • Essentials: Personal items for a two-night stay.


EVENT POLICY
Schedule and Changes: The schedule, location, and programming are subject to change due to weather or enrollment. Registered participants will be notified via email of any significant updates.

Refund Policy: Workshops may be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met. The organizer is not responsible for external travel or accommodation expenses.

Assumption of Risk: This event involves hands-on construction with tools and materials. By registering, participants assume responsibility for their own safety and agree to follow all safety guidelines. Parents/guardians are responsible for supervising minors at all times.
