Pine Tree Politics: How Maine Forests Sparked Revolution

Join Blue Hill Heritage Trust intern Renee at a pop-up table session (on our Peters Brook Trail) to talk about the history of the white pine, Maine's iconic tree.

Stop by on Wednesday, August 6 between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM for a short (5-10 minute) conversation (and activities) on how the trees incited riots and helped win the American Revolution, becoming a symbol of freedom and independence.

**Visitors are welcome to drop in at any time during the program, and are not expected to stay for the duration.**

Renee is a rising senior at Colby College studying environmental science and geology. She wrote a research paper on white pine for an environmental history class this past fall and is excited to share some of what she learned about the interactions between people and place.
