Celebrate Bass Lake's new entrance pathway

Join us for a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., Wed., Sept. 3, to celebrate the completion of an ADA-accessible pathway at Bass Lake at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park in Blowing Rock. Refreshments will be provided.

The previous gravel entrance leading to the lake from the parking lot had become eroded, making it challenging to traverse.

“Providing access to Bass Lake is about more than recreation — it’s about belonging, health, and the restorative power of nature. Everyone deserves a space to breathe deep, find peace, and experience the beauty of the High Country and the Parkway,” said Adam Combs, Director of Waypoint Adventure North Carolina. “This new pathway makes that possible for people with disabilities, and we’re thrilled to celebrate the doors it will open.”

The Foundation’s previous projects at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park include the construction of restrooms at the lake, maintenance of the carriage trails, repairs to Flat Top Lookout Tower, and extensive repairs to the exterior of Flat Top Manor.
