"Reasonable Doubt": An Evening with Steve Vogel
(A Bloomington, IL, True Crime Story)
--- Tuesday, August 5
--- 7-8:30pm; Community Rooms 1-3
Steve Vogel, author of “Reasonable Doubt: A Shocking Story of Lust and Murder in the American Heartland”, will offer a presentation in Community Rooms 1-3 at Bloomington Public Library at 7pm on Tuesday, August 5. The presentation will also be available via livestream on the library’s YouTube feed at bit.ly/blmlibyoutube.

“Reasonable Doubt”, a “New York Times” bestseller, chronicles the true story of the murders of Susan Hendricks, 30, and her three young children, Rebekah, 9; Grace, 7; and Benjamin, 5; who were found hacked to death in their beds in Bloomington, IL, in 1983. The family patriarch, David Hendricks, who’d been traveling on business when the bodies were found, was convicted of the crime in 1984. That conviction was overturned in a 1991 retrial.

The author presentation is hosted by the library’s True Crime Book Club and the library’s History Reads Book Club in partnership with the McLean County Museum of History. Although this evening is hosted by the book clubs, anyone can attend.

Reading the book is encouraged but not required. Contact the library's Help Desk at 309.590.6168 or cmVmZXJlbmNlIHwgYmxvb21pbmd0b25saWJyYXJ5ICEgb3Jn to check out or reserve a print copy of the book. Digital copies of this book are available via the library’s Hoopla app (eBook and eAudiobook available) and the library’s Libby app (eAudiobook available). There is never a need to put an item on hold when it’s being borrowed from Hoopla. If Hoopla offers a title, it is always available.
