City on the River Exhibition Opening Community Celebration

The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology is excited to unveil this highly anticipated exhibition. Join us to celebrate Angel Mounds, Indiana’s Indigenous Peoples, and this new exhibition!

About the Exhibition:

Developed in partnership with the Native American descendants from Angel Mounds, City on the River tells the stories of Indigenous peoples from Indiana. This exhibition celebrates the lives of both the people who lived in the city on the Ohio River, known today as Angel Mounds, and their Native American relatives living today. These stories are told through archaeological artifacts, an immersive virtual reality experience, learning interactives, videos about Native American culture and language, contemporary art, and personal stories about family, animals, and Indigenous land management.

Parking Information:

Limited complimentary parking is available in front of the museum entrance off Indiana Avenue. Street parking is free on weekends in the neighborhoods surrounding the museum and at the nearby Poplars Garage. Paid parking options include the McCalla Building lot off Indiana Avenue, the Indiana Memorial Union lots, and metered street parking in the downtown/Sample Gates area.
