C I R C U S by Danell Dvorak and Jan Brandt

From the center ring, Jan Brandt and Danell Dvorak present CIRCUS, all-new paintings inspired by their lifelong fascination with spangles and sawdust.

Brandt’s paintings offer a visual experience of the circus spectacle, featuring multiple performers, props, and iconography with bright colors, vivid patterns, and textural contrast.

Dvorak’s work directs attention offstage, using painterly brushwork, gestural lines, and expressive color to portray the resolute otherness of female aerialists and equestriennes.



About the Artists:

Jan Brandt is a painter, fiber installation artist, and gallerist.

Danell Dvorak is a painter, ceramicist, and teaching artist.

Long term collaborators on many exhibits, commissions, and community events, their first circus themed show together, The Big Top, was derailed onto a digital platform in 2020 by Covid.

Though they both exhibit in traditional galleries, bringing their CIRCUS to the library audience embodies the spirit of “Come One. Come All”.
