Ben Fowler, Dave Dwinell and Chuck Roldan are kicking off a monthly Drumset Masterclass Series! Bloomington Drum Club at JSMS will take place on the Final Thursday of each month, from 6:30-8:30pm.
It all begins on Thursday January 29; Fowler will lead January's class with a focus on the drumming of Mitch Mitchell, famous for his work with the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
THE DETAILS:
Thursday 1/29/26, 630-830pm
sliding scale $10-$20, all ages welcome (non-drummers also welcome!)
BLOOMINGTON DRUM CLUB takes place at:
Jefferson St. Music Studio
2051 w. Fountain Drive
Bloomington IN
THE PLAN:
-Each Drum Club Session will begin with some rudimental warm up. When possible we’ll focus on rudiments that relate to the drummer of the night. If you don’t play rudiments yet, you can simply mark a steady pulse and check out the patterns being played on the page/hear them in the room. Bring a practice pad if it’s easy to do so!
-There will be some YouTubing, some live demonstration, some listening, and some kit playing opportunities.
-We will compare and contrast the featured drummer’s style with that of his peers, talk about their lasting influence, and talk about drummers who influenced them.
on another note,
JSMS wants to be a destination for the shopping needs of local drummers. We sell ProMark sticks/brushes/hotrods, and Evans heads and RealFeel practice Pads, along with D’Addario guitar strings and capos, etc. Keep us posted about your favorite varieties of heads and sticks, and we will aim to stock what you like. Pricing is competitive with the internet.
Future Drum Club classes will focus on John Bonham, Ringo Star, Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson, Yussef Dayes, Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Chad Smith, Dave Grohl, Jimmy Chamberlain, Zigaboo Modeliste, Stevie Wonder, Steve Gadd, Tony Allen, Nate Smith, Chris Dave, ... THE LIST GOES ON.
