Get ready for over 30 hours of dancing at the third annual Motown Tango Marathon! This 3-day event will take place in the suburbs of Detroit, MI.
Join us for a weekend of non-stop Argentine Tango and Alternative Tango with wonderful DJs and dancers from around the country. Every year this exceptional, intimate marathon gets BETTER and BETTER, and we cannot wait to welcome friends and new faces to the Motor City once again!
Our beautiful and spacious dance floor at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Bloomfield Hills is the perfect setting to dance tango. There will be food on-site for our evening milongas, featuring some of our favorite local flavors.

Rod Relucio is based in Chicago. Widely known as a Teacher/Dancer, Rod is gaining recognition as a DJ around the U.S. and abroad (Canada, India, Poland, Italy, Mexico, etc...),. He creates a playlist that causes waves of emotion and energy, keeping the dancers engaged through the night. Rod strives to create a musical atmosphere that inspires dancers and connects with them on the emotional level.
He has DJ’d at the Windy City Tango Festival, Cleveland Tango Bowling Marathon, Tango on the Rocks, Tango Maya Festival, and Holiday Tango Weekend. You can hear him monthly in Chicago at the 312 monthly milonga, as well as other milongas. He is the co-organizer of the Windy City Tango Festival in Chicago, held annually in July.
Rob Montango - Rob was a career martial artist for 30 years before his interest shifted to dance in 2006. soon dedicated himself solely to the study of Argentine tango and never looked back. Rob travels often and has studied in America and Europe from master tango teachers. Rob has served as a headliner DJ for large festivals in Eastern Europe, Asia, and the United states, as well as performing at a few of them. His goal is to exchange knowledge with tango communities all over the world to gain a larger view of this fantastic art form. He has an excellent collection of classic tangos and modern orchestras, as well as, a large alternative tango collection that he Enjoys to share
Lorena Diez - Originally from Mar del Plata, Argentina, Lorena Diez has earned a distinguished reputation for her role as a tango organizer, teacher, and DJ, with a rich history of dedicated contributions to Miami's thriving tango community since 2008. At present, she is the co-organizer and DJ for two prominent Miami-based milongas, Open Air Tango on Lincoln Rd and Las Pebetas Milonga, both of which have been established since 2017. Lorena's musical style is characterized by her exceptional curation of Golden Age tango classics, complemented by her profound knowledge of the contemporary orchestras currently in vogue within Buenos Aires. Her vibrant and celebratory style has left an indelible mark on tango enthusiasts in Milongas, Festivals & Marathons, spanning from different cities in Florida to Chicago, Mexico, and her native Argentina. Furthermore, in addition to her musical pursuits, she has displayed her talent as a tango costume designer under her own brand, Sur-Real Designs, a venture she has passionately cultivated since 2010.
Koichiro Suzuki earned his Master’s Degree in Music Performance at Duquesne University and has performed Euphonium internationally since 1996. Koichiro incorporates his complex music background and deep understanding of musicality into his DJing. He is the founder of the annual Pgh Tango Fierro Marathon & Festival in Pittsburgh, PA, and has DJ’ed in many cities in the United States, Argentina, Canada, Cyprus, Mexico, and Japan. In this year 2021 Koichiro DJed for the “Las Carolinas” Tango Marathons (Charlotte, NC) “Las Carolinas 2.0” Tango Marathons (Franklin, TN), and at the Windy City Tango Festival (Chicago, IL). After Pacific Rim Tango Marathon (Seattle, WA), he will DJ at Charleston Tango Weekend, Boston Tango Marathon, Marcos and Florencia Tango Weekend in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Tango Fierro Marathon, Tango Maya (Cancun, Mexico), Bourbon Tango Festival (Louisville, KT), La Pantera Milonga (Charlotte, NC), the 25th Anniversary Rhythm & Motion Milonga (Toronto, Canada) among other events. In 2022 Koichiro was invited to DJ Toronto Tango Marathon (Toronto, Canada), Austin Spring Tango Festival (Austin, TX), Koichiro lives in Pittsburgh PA, where he teaches tango and DJs regularly.
Jae Youn is the founder of Tango Utopia in the greater Raleigh/Durham area.She is an internationally recognized dancer, teacher and DJ of Argentine Tango. Her goal is to promote and teach Argentine Tango.
As a DJ, Jae loves the challenge of keeping dancers on the floor to the very last tanda. Her sensitivity to the energy of a milonga influences her music selection. Her music library is focused on the traditional masters and this is also reflected in her musical choices. She has been invited to DJ at festivals, milongas, marathons, and encuentros milongueros across the country and in Europe.
Randy Alan Fisher has been dancing tango since his first trip to Buenos Aires in 2000. He is a multi-diciplinary artist who started tango to build his circus arts and fell in love, transitioning more and more into tango. He moved back to Detroit in 2011 from San Francisco and has been teaching tango in Detroit ever since. He is a nationally-recognized tango DJ and hosts weekly classes and milongas with the Detroit Tango Collective.
James Valentino is a passionate and dedicated tango teacher, DJ, and organizer in Detroit, Michigan. He’s the creator of the Motown Tango Marathon in Detroit. He has been teaching and DJing for over a decade, and his enthusiasm for the tango is evident when meeting him. James has a unique style that combines his love of music with his love for dance. He always makes sure to connect with his guests, and his energy and enthusiasm on the dance floor is contagious. With his drive and creativity, James is making a lasting impression in the tango DJing world. He is constantly pushing himself to stay ahead of the curve and explore new music genres as well as the many golden age orchestras. James is passionate about connecting with other DJs and teachers and learning from their experiences, making him a true student and master of the craft.
