The first of our Town Hall Sessions
We understand that not everyone wants to be in a nightclub until 3am... and some don't want to be around an alcohol fueled environment - this isn't what we are about - let's bring the focus back to the music & our community.
Join us as we string up the sound system and provide the music for an all day roots reggae session.
Everyone is welcome, bring your family and friends and be a part of the first in many events we have planned, near & far.
Music should be accessible to all and so we are ensuring that the event does not exclude due to finances - if you cant afford to contribute, please still come along! We are paying for the hire of the hall and so if you can help us by contributing what you can, please do so. There wont be any pressure & no one knows who has or hasn't.... We are proud to be putting hire fees in to the community and any extra amount raised from entry will go into developing the sound system.
A social story will soon be available to further support access requirements and if you feel we can do anything else to make this event accessible and inclusive, please let us know. There will be loud music for the duration of the event.
We will have games for young & old available in the hall to break up the dancing! (chess, backgammon, jenga, uno, building blocks, art, etc) If you can, bring some games/activities too
The music will remain roots reggae & steady; expect to hear music from the early foundation days of reggae up to the present day from Rub a Dub, Dancehall, Steppas sounds and all things in between - strictly reggae played in a sound system style & fashion. If you're unsure what to expect, check out some recordings of a radio show presented by resident selector Dugwise www.mixcloud.com/dugwise/
We look forward to seeing you there, there will be no alcohol on sale and you should bring everything you need for the day including refreshments. We will bring some pots of (vegan) food to share and some bottled water, and encourage you to bring more than you need too!
This event is about the power of music and community - if you want to get involved but unsure how, just send us a message.
MC's & selectors by appointment only, enquire by messaging us.
DubClub has formed over the last year when a group of otherwise strangers met through a shared interest of reggae music. The benefits of coming together and supporting one another is already apparent between us & is found in both the messages of the music and our support for each other. We want to extend this impact further through good music, good people, & good times <3
