The Craft of Hand Spinning

Join us for a relaxed and informative evening exploring the traditional and eco-friendly craft of hand spinning. Led by Diane, a passionate member of The Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, this hands-on session will guide you through the fascinating process of transforming raw fleece into beautifully spun wool — ready to be knitted, crocheted or woven.

Whether you're a curious beginner or simply interested in the journey from sheep to skein, Diane will share her knowledge and skills from The Foundation Certificate of Spinning. You’ll learn about fleece preparation, fibre properties, and the techniques used to spin yarn, with the chance to try your hand at carding fibres and using a spinning wheel.

This event champions sustainable crafting by celebrating age-old skills and encouraging the reuse of natural materials. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect with others, learn something new, and explore mindful ways to reduce waste through handmade creativity.
