Our featured "Speciale" is: "Melanzane Ripiene", and it's available for ONE day only at $17!

This signature dish is from the region of Calabria and is a combination of eggplant stuffed with Romano cheese and herbed breadcrumbs atop a bed of Calabrian chili cream sauce!

Melanzane Ripiene translates to "stuffed eggplant" and is a classic Calabrian dish with roots firmly planted in the broader history of eggplant cultivation and stuffed vegetable preparations in Mediterranean cuisine! Eggplant is not indigenous to Italy. It made it's way to Southern Italy by the 9th century CE. The practice of stuffing vegetables has a long and rich history throughout the Mediterranean basin!

Calabrian chili peppers, known locally as peperoncino Calabrese, are a staple of Calabrian cuisine! They were introduced to Italy via trade, likely by Spanish explorers. These peppers found a favorable environment in Calabria's warm, Mediterranean climate and became a beloved ingredient in local dishes!
