We are excited to bring three of America's top Irish musicians Sean Gavin (flute, uilleann pipes, whistle), Liz Hanley (fiddle and vocals), and Don Penzien (guitar) to Blacksburg for an evening of Irish traditional music at Odd Fellows Hall (199 Wilson Ave) on Friday, August. 22nd, 7 p.m.
$20 suggested donation. All proceeds go to the musicians

We will supply some beverages and goodies, as well as cups, plates, etc. You may bring whatever adult beverages you wish to consume, and you are free to bring something to share with others if you are so inclined.
There is no real parking to be had at Odd Fellows Hall and parking on Wilson Ave is extremely limited, so we suggest you park in the large parking lot off Progress Ave and walk the block to Odd Fellows Hall.

A master of the uilleann pipes, Irish flute, and tin whistle, Seán Gavin is one of the most highly regarded performers and teachers of traditional Irish music, and is the first musician born outside Ireland to win the prestigious Seán Ó Riada Gold medal. Seán is the founder and director of the Irish Music Institute – a non-profit music school in Southeast Michigan, and just finished his first year as coordinator of Celtic Week at the Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina. He recently released a new album, "The Boys of 25", with box player Colm Gannon.

Liz Hanley is a Brooklyn-based singer and fiddle player across many genres. Growing up in Boston, Liz learned traditional fiddle tunes from her father/fiddle player Andy Hanley, songs and stories from her grandparents Martin Hanley and Rita McNamara. She attended the New England Conservatory Preparatory school and has toured globally with Mick Moloney and the Green Fields of America and The Murphy Beds. She recently released a new album of songs, "Paint this Life"

Don Penzien is a a master of DADGAD-tuned guitar, and a much sought after accompanist for Irish traditional music. Don has played and toured with many well-known Irish musicians including Brian Conway, John Whelan, Gerry O’Connor, Randal Bays, Máirtín de Cógáin, and Haley Richardson. Don is widely lauded for his tasteful backing, and his dexterous work on guitar will provide a solid foundation for the evening’s tunes and songs.
