About this Event

SEND Forum - Prove It Works!

Led by Specialist Teacher (SLD) Cole Andrew.

About the session

Adapting teaching. A proven model for helping teachers develop action-based research, adapting teaching in a way that is more likely to meet the range of needs of pupils in each classroom.

Key objectives
  • To confidently return to school and launch straight into action-based research around the needs of a pupil or quality first teaching practice
  • To be able to coach colleagues in setting up action-based approaches to support pupils with SEND or inclusive practice
  • To be challenged and ‘fired up’ to be more reflective practitioners
  • To gain a strategy for evidencing impact of provision for pupils with SEND

Overview

Pupils with SEND require support that is tailored to their specific needs. Daily practice in varying teaching approaches is key to this but many struggle with the current pressure to ‘adhere rigidly’ to the planned schemes of work.

Adaptive teaching requires teachers to continually match strategies and resources to the pupils’ needs. @Graham Chisnell (Irresistible Learning and co-founding member of the Chartered College) will coach delegates through a clear process for teachers to follow in developing action-based research in their classrooms.

This published 8 step model has played a significant role in improving the quality of teaching and pupil progress in schools, leading to successful outcomes with Ofsted. This session complements our pre-existing SEND and Adaptive Teaching Course. Applying this approach will aid school leaders in evidencing ‘inclusive’ practice and ‘adaptive’ teaching in readiness for the published changes in the Ofsted framework.ptive’ teaching in readiness for the published changes in the Ofsted framework.
