Why Drumming?
Drumming isn’t just about making music – it’s a joyful, energising experience that’s great for your body and mind. Here’s how it helps:
Melt Away Stress: Rhythmic drumming releases feel-good endorphins, helping you relax and unwind.
Express Yourself: Let your emotions flow through the beat – a natural and healthy outlet.
Sharpen Your Mind: Improve focus, memory, creativity, and coordination while having a blast.
Move Your Body: Get your heart pumping and your limbs moving – drumming is a sneaky full-body workout!
Feel Connected: Group drumming builds community and lifts your spirit – you’re never drumming alone.
What to Expect
We meet every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8pm in the welcoming upstairs Atrium at The Bureau. (please note this is a group for people aged 18 and over) There is lift access for this space, but you do need to be able to evacuate via the stairs in the case of an evacuation.
No experience or instruments needed! Just bring yourself. We’ll provide a range of hand drums and percussion to play with – or bring your own if you’d like.
Warm-up Beats: Start with easy, energising rhythms to get in the groove.
Group Jam: Connect through shared rhythms, explore different instruments, and create together.
Solo Moments: Want to shine? There’ll be space to improvise and express your own unique beat.
Relax & Reflect: We’ll finish with calming rhythms to ease you into a peaceful state of mind.
Spring into Rhythm!
As the days get brighter, our sessions will celebrate the themes of renewal, growth, and fresh starts with uplifting spring and summer-inspired beats.
Come Early, Stay Social
Our downstairs café is open from 5 – 7pm. Arrive early to grab a cuppa, meet fellow drummers, and enjoy a friendly chat before the beats begin.
Meet Your Guides
Jo and James, our two friendly facilitators, are not only experienced musicians – they’re also trained in therapeutic practices. They’ll guide the group with warmth, care, and creativity, making sure everyone feels welcome and supported.
