Known as having a voice “as pure as the prairie wind”, vocalist Patty Clayton is a performing songwriter who has gainfully branded her own brand of western music to the forefront as a performing songwriter whose buckaroo ballads and borrowed songs celebrate the present and the past of western America.
A descendant of Oregon Trail pioneers who settled and ranched in the Pacific Northwest, she was raised in the west. Patty’s pure vocals have delighted western and folk audiences in a career that has spanned multiple decades, both as a solo artist, and with her band Cimarron Wind.
Both the International Western Music Association out of Albuquerque, NM, and the Academy of Western Artists in Ft. Worth, TX, have presented her with Female Performer of the Year, Western Swing CD of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year respectively. Her musical adventures in Colorado started with Ladies’ Choice, an all women's bluegrass band; an award winning trio, In Cahoots; and a 6-piece Western Swing Band, Cowtown Boogie.
Patty will be accompanied by Denver's own incomparable string wizard Ernie Martinez. Ernie’s musical career includes over 40 years of teaching stringed instruments at Denver's Swallow Hill Music. He has been involved in bluegrass bands, country bands, and rock bands since he was old enough to hold an instrument! He is the go-to accompanist for many of the Front Range’s musicians and recording artists, knowing no boundaries in his ability to add just the right instrument to the performance.
Also joining Patty is Dan Welch, a Colorado native who studied music at the University of Colorado, where he taught guitar and performed with the Lorelei duo and as a solo classical guitarist. After pausing his musical pursuits to focus on career and family, he returned as an active performer playing a variety instruments in Denver’s bluegrass and worship communities. Dan believes in bringing joy to listeners through his love of music.
