Our next walk is on Saturday 28th June 2025.
Birmingham is one of the UK's greenest cities, with 93 parks and over 15% of it is green spaces. This walk connects three parks in the south of the city, Kings Heath Park, Highbury Park and Canon Hill Park.
We meet at the Vicarage Road entrance to Kings Heath Park to start the walk at 11.00 am. We will walk through the park with its beautiful gardens and lake. From there we walk to Highbury Park, a large open space and the former estate of Highbury Hall. Having left there we will walk to Canon Hill Park, Birmingham's flagship park with a large lake, expansive gardens ,green areas as well as a theatre and cafe.
This is a circular walk and upon leaving Canon Hill Park we will follow the River Rea , onto the Pebble Mill playing fields and return to KIngs Heath Park.
We will stop for a lunch break during the walk, so please bring food should you wish to eat.
The walk is about six miles in distance. As it is a green walk dogs are welcome, although there is some walking by the roadside so leads are recommended.
For those coming by public transport from Birmingham city centre, you will need to get the number 35 bus from various stops there, alighting in Vicarage Road. The journey takes about 30 minutes. The number 11A and 11C circular route buses also stop in Vicarage Road if you are near one of the stops on those routes.
For those coming by car there is a free car park in Kings Heath Park, which is accessible from the Vicarage Road entrance. The postcode for the park is B14 7TQ.
