Midlands Graduate School Conference 2025

The MGS conference organisers welcome you to the 2025 conference hosted at the University of Birmingham. This year our theme is (Extra)Ordinary Experiences? Approaching Everyday Lives In Social Science Research.

We are delighted to welcome over 65 postgraduate students and early career researchers across the partner institutes to present their work with us today, as well as the host of researchers in attendance.

Talk hosts

We are looking for a number of volunteers to help host presentations. Talk hosts will:

• Facilitate introductions and Q&As
• Ask questions and encourage dialogue between presenters and attendees
• Timekeeping

Workshops

We are looking to host a number of student workshops. The workshops should build on further research skills and/or professional development. We are especially interested in interdisciplinary workshops and/or those working collaboratively with organisations beyond the MGS ESRC DTP. Please note that there are limited workshop spaces.

Travel expenses are available to support attendance at this session for MGS students.

MGS Students: Please apply for funding via the normal RTSG process. These costs will not be deducted from your RTSG budget.
