Join us at Centrala for the official launch of Under the Same Sky, a new group exhibition opening during Refugee Week 2025. This special evening event will mark the beginning of a programme exploring migration, memory, and belonging through visual art, storytelling, and community connection.
Under the Same Sky brings together work by seven artists from migrant backgrounds, including some members of the CEE Us! Network. Through painting, photography, analogue film, archival materials and mixed media, the exhibition reflects on the many ways community is built, protected, and sustained, especially in times of displacement and difficulty.
The launch evening is a chance to experience the exhibition in an informal, welcoming setting. Visitors are invited to explore the artworks, meet the creatives behind them, and learn more about the stories and experiences shaping each piece. The evening will also include music and light refreshments, offering a space for dialogue and exchange.
Presented as part of Refugee Week and supported by the Birmingham City Council, Community Rescue Fund, Under the Same Sky is more than an exhibition, it’s a celebration of resilience, shared humanity, and the quiet power of coming together.
Featuring work from Artur Zerkalov, Martin Avotiņš, Sylwia Ciszewska-Peciak, Femi Amogunla, Wiola Brandys, Helena Sõõro, and Lucy Sadova. Across all the works, viewers are invited to consider four curatorial themes: vulnerability and resilience, unfamiliar territories, solidarity and togetherness, and life in a foreign land. These thematic threads run through the exhibition like constellations in a shared sky, distinct yet connected.
All are welcome.
