150 years ago, the community came together to create something special: an oasis where people could connect with each other and the world around them for generations. On August 27, 1875, a celebration was held to acknowledge the hard work put forth to create Binghamton’s first public park and the country’s 5th zoo. This year, we will come together once again on August 27th to honor the legacy of the gift left to us by Erastus and Cornelia Ross, who donated the land, and to celebrate the countless volunteers who cleared brush, carved out trails, and built bridges 150 years ago. Join us as we reflect on the rich history of Ross Park Zoo and share a vision for protecting its future.
