The Changeling

We are incredibly pleased to announce that Saturday, April 26th, we will be playing a special 45th anniversary screening of Peter Medak's absolutely chilling 1980 horror-mystery masterpiece, THE CHANGELING, at the historic Babcock Theatre as the next film in our Late Night series! A truly exquisite haunted house thriller, THE CHANGELING still remains one of the very best and most effectively portrayed ghost films of all time! Totally drenched in the suffocating, eerie atmosphere of a creaky old mansion, THE CHANGELING is a paranormal puzzle that completely sucks the viewer in as the attempt to unravel the story's mysteries. With incredibly creepy sound design, pacing that puts you on edge, genuinely disturbing imagery, quite authentic showings of 20th century paranormal research, and a thoughtful, wrenching, examination of grief, there really is no ghost film out there quite like THE CHANGELING!
When successful composer John Russel suffers the loss of his wife and daughter in a tragic accident, he moves to Seattle in an attempt to overcome it and build a new and peaceful life in a large, lonely old house that has been vacant for years. Soon after moving in, John experience strange phenomena in the house, and as he makes efforts to get to the bottom of it, he makes discoveries about the house's history. As John attempts to put all the pieces together, the ghostly activity ramps up in intensity as the house's past as well as his own begin to absorb his life.
