Montana Drone Safety Day Takes Flight in Billings
Free Community Event at Rocky Mountain College Showcases Drone Safety, Innovation, and Hands-On Fun
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Rocky Mountain College will host its first-ever Montana Drone Safety Day from 10 AM to 3 PM—a free, interactive event open to the public. Coinciding with RMC’s new small Uncrewed Aerial Systems (sUAS) major, the day will feature hands-on drone activities, expert panels, educational exhibits, and family-friendly fun aimed at promoting drone safety and showcasing career opportunities in this fast-growing industry.

Organized by the Academy of Model Aeronautics Drone Club at RMC, the event will include:
✅ Flight simulators, quadcopter demos, and balsa wood plane builds for kids and families.
✅ On-site FAA TRUST exams for recreational drone pilot certification.
✅ Panels and seminars with experts from the Billings Fire Department, Montana Department of Transportation, and more
✅1-on-1 interactions at booths hosted by public safety officials, military recruiters, and drone industry leaders
✅ Networking & Community – Meet fellow drone enthusiasts, share experiences, and learn together.
This event also celebrates the launch of RMC’s new sUAS degree program—positioning Montana as a hub for innovation in agriculture, infrastructure, and public safety through drone technology.
