Friday, August 29 â Downtown Billings
Rev up your engines and take a trip back in time! In the â50s and â60s, the block between 2nd & 3rd Avenues North and N 29th Street to Broadway was the place to beâcars cruised, music played, and the air buzzed with youthful energy. This legendary tradition, known as Burn the Point, is still going strong, and every Labor Day weekend, downtown Billings transforms into a rolling tribute to classic American car culture.
Since 2003, the Chase Hawks Memorial Associationâpowered by local car enthusiasts and led by Sylvia Gusickâhas been keeping the tradition alive and growing stronger every year.
The excitement kicks off Friday at 6:00 PM, when over 500 vintage rides roar down 3rd Ave N in the iconic parade. Catch Kurt Anthony and Major Dan Miller from MOJO 92.5 FM announcing the cars from Q2 Studios and the historic Babcock Theater. Once the last engine has passed, the night doesnât endâa live band hits the stage on Broadway and the whole street becomes a dance floor. Trust us: this is not a weekend to skip town!
A Few Important Parade Guidelines
To keep the parade safe and enjoyable for everyone, we ask that all participants follow these simple rules:
Please do not throw candy or other items from vehicles.
Political signage is not permittedâthis is a celebration for all, and we want to keep it focused on fun!
No trailers, motorcycles, or trikesâvehicles must have four wheels to participate.
And most importantly, absolutely no burnouts. For everyoneâs safety, any violations may result in a citation from the police, who will be on-site during the event.
Our top priority is the safety of our spectators, participants, and volunteers. Following these rules helps ensure we can keep this beloved tradition going strong for years to comeâthank you for your cooperation and understanding!
