We are planning to obliterate your consciousness very soon! Saturday, July 26th, we will be playing a special 45th anniversary screening of Ken Russell's insane 1980 psychological sci-fi horror classic, ALTERED STATES, at Art House Cinema and Pub as this month's film in our LATE NIGHT series!
A truly startling film on a sensory level few other thrillers ever reach, ALTERED STATES is a frightening breach of consciousness that taps into the realm of the unknown in pursuit of knowledge, resulting in horrible consequences! Teeming with disturbing showcases of mind-melting visuals and an unsettling score, ALTERED STATES is an early 80s gem out of left field that should not go unseen by any fans of horror and science fiction!
Esteemed research scientist and Nobel Prize nominee Eddie Jessup explores the boundaries and untapped frontiers of his own consciousness in hopes of discovering a way for the human mind to access its full potential. Using deprivation and hallucinogenic mixtures from Native American shamans, Eddie's reality begins to fall apart as he dives deeper into his ALTERED STATES of consciousness as he starts to theorize that memory, time, and even reality are nothing but a state of mind.
