Craft: Art Nouveau Lettering of Charles Rennie Mackintosh
Leader: Jane Jenkins
Cost: £60
Location: The Peter Harrison Room
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh was in his early twenties and at the Glasgow School of Art when the Art Nouveau movement spread across Europe and into Britain. His work as an architect, interior designer, painter and letterer was far ahead of its time and, therefore, not appreciated by many. However, he is now world famous and we can see his influence in so many places.
In this workshop, we will be looking at his wonderful letters and also those of letter designers who have obviously been influenced by the Arts Nouveau movement generally, and CRM in particular.
