Discover the awe-inspiring beauty of the Tugela Falls in the majestic Drakensberg Mountains! Known as the Amphitheatre/Sentinel Peak Hike, this is one of South Africa’s most iconic hikes—and for good reason. Tugela Falls, now recognized as the tallest multiple-drop waterfall in the world with a staggering total drop of 983 meters, is a sight you won’t want to miss.
You’ll spend the night near the top of the waterfall, taking in some of the most breathtaking views on the planet!
The Drakensberg Escarpment stretches over 200 km, with an average drop of 1,000 meters along its length. This is a bucket-list adventure for any serious hiker!

Important:
This hike is not suitable for beginners or casual hikers due to the elevation gain and altitude. You will need to carry your own overnight backpack. We strongly recommend completing at least 3 training hikes with a full backpack prior to the event.
What to Bring:
For Camping:
• Lightweight tent
• Sleeping bag (0-degree rating recommended)
• Inflatable pillow (or use your jacket)
• Insulated sleeping mat
• Towel
• Lightweight shoes (for camp)
• Lunch for both days
• Headlamp
• Powerbank
For the Hike:
• Hiking boots (waterproof if possible)
• Rain jacket
• Extra set of clothes (for the next day or in case of rain)
• Hiking stick
• Cap
• Sunblock

Please note: The weather in the Drakensberg is highly unpredictable. This event will proceed rain or shine, and will only be canceled or postponed under extreme conditions (extreme heat/cold, hail, or heavy rain). A little rain won’t hurt—plus, it keeps the bugs away!
We require a minimum of 5 confirmed bookings to proceed. If the quota isn’t met, the event will be canceled, and refunds will be issued.

• Grade 1: Easy. Minimal fitness required.
• Grade 2: Not too strenuous. Moderate fitness.
