It’s time to press your party clothes and step back in time to the “Roaring 20s” for a uniquely authentic experience at Historic Hotel Bethlehem. The hotel opened during Prohibition in 1922 and there was rumored to be a secret door in the lower level leading to a speakeasy.
We bring this exclusive atmosphere to life for one night with the live hot jazz of Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society, cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations and more surprises. Come as you are, or as you might have dressed in the 1920s. Join the promenade on the dance floor and find out if you are the “Best Dressed Flapper,” “Best Dressed Dapper” or part of the “Best Dressed Couple/Group”! Prizes to the winners.
Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society bring the authentic hot jazz sounds of the 1920s to life with flair. The group, which received the Viva La Musica Award for Best Jazz, Lounge or Swing Band, combines authentic old-school music history with a little Vaudeville and shenanigans wherever they go. Drew and his band can be heard on eight records and seen at venues and events from Philly to New York to the Hearst Castle, and now in Bethlehem.
Need some 1920s wardrobe inspiration? Visit the “Blind Tiger” Speakeasy that’s part of the Checking In: Bethlehem’s Alluring Accommodations exhibition at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts before the exhibit ends September 30. If you miss it, don’t worry – selected elements of the exhibit will pop up at the Ball.
Proceeds from the evening support Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites. Your ticket includes a fully immersive 1920s experience, food and two bar tickets. After that, you pay as you go. Thank you to our sponsor, partner and supporter: Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
