The Heavens Above

Blast off with Vox Alta as we sing about humankind’s relationship with outer space!

We begin with myths about the gods, featuring pieces by Joan Szymko, Gustav Holst, and others. Next we move to historical observations of the heavens, and the men and women who dedicated their lives to astronomy, including music by Dale Trumbore and the West Coast premiere of Jenny Yao’s “Planetarium.” We end with music about exploration: rockets, the Hubble space telescope, and the explorers that dream of traveling to the stars.
