Breath and sound are powerful tools for self-exploration, transformation, and healing. Our breath is intimately connected to our life essence—our energy and our spirit. Working with breath and sound can support a shift in energetic and psychological states, bringing a greater sense of coherence, wholeness, and harmony.
Your Holo-Sonic Breathwork journey will unfold in the following sequence:
Please bring your own yoga mat or blanket to lie down on, and a water bottle. Optional items for comfort include an extra blanket, a pillow, and an eye covering.
It’s best to practice breathwork on either an empty stomach or after eating very lightly. Consider giving yourself time after the workshop for rest and integration. Many people find it supportive to plan a quiet, uneventful evening for reflection and self-care.
Doors open at 1:30 PM. Please arrive before 2:00 PM so you can get settled. The doors will close promptly at 2:00 PM when the workshop begins.
Please note: Breathwork can be physically and emotionally activating. It is contraindicated for those who are pregnant; have severe hypertension or cardiovascular disease, asthma, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia; have had recent major surgeries; or have communicable diseases.
Also note: While the breathing technique used in this workshop is derived from Grof Holotropic Breathwork, this is not a Grof Holotropic Breathwork workshop. It represents a synthesis of Loriel’s work in sound healing and Holotropic Breathwork.
This event is in-person only. Early bird tickets are $75 through Sep 1! General Admission is $85 online and $95 at the door.
Loriel Starr brings a multifaceted and integrative approach to her work in the healing arts. Certified as a Grof Holotropic Breathwork facilitator in 2003, she has guided individuals in exploring expanded states of awareness for over 20 years through her private practice, public workshops, and her work with Grof Transpersonal Training.
She was mentored by Dr. Stanislav Grof, a pioneer in using breathwork to access non-ordinary states of consciousness for healing, insight, and transformation. Beginning in the 1970s—long before breathwork became the widespread field it is today—Grof helped lay the groundwork for what is now a global movement of breath-based inner exploration.
In addition to her work with breathwork, Loriel is a graduate of the Sound, Voice, and Music in the Healing Arts program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (2008) and has trained with many luminaries in the field of sound healing. Recognized as one of Northern California’s premier sound bath facilitators, she has produced and led immersive sound healing experiences for over 11 years.
Her current signature offerings include SonicTrance Gong Bath, Sound Healing Sanctuary, and Holo-Sonic Breathwork. She also performs as part of The Sound Healing Symphony at San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral. Loriel is devoted to the healing power of sound as a pathway to meditation, mysticism, and transformation.
She is also a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP) and a certified advanced Level III iRest® Yoga Nidra meditation teacher, with specialized training in trauma healing and somatic integration.
