Steamrail Victoria invites you to a relaxing steam hauled journey towards the Murray River from Bendigo to Echuca and return.
Journey behind steam locomotive R711 and vintage diesel locomotive S301.
Departing Bendigo Station at 09:30am, steam past the historic workshops of Bendigo Tramways and the former Victorian Railways North Bendigo Workshops, known for the construction and maintenance of historic trams and steam locomotives for over 100 years.
After passing through the expanding areas of Epsom and Huntly, we will venture out onto the Campaspe Plains and through the townships of Elmore and Rochester, waving to the locals as steam locomotive R711's whistle makes our presence known.
After a journey of 1.5 hours onboard our heritage train, step off at Echuca, the historic river port town on the banks of the Murray. As our volunteers turn and service the steam locomotive, take the time to explore the town at your own leisure.
The train will depart Echuca at 4:35pm, arriving back into Bendigo at 6:10pm after a memorable day out.

ECHUCA
Visit the town of Echuca, located on the picturesque Murray River. The Murray River and the towns many shops and restaurants can all be reached within a 25 minute walk from the Railway Station.
Experience the rich history of the Port of Echuca at your own pace, or on a 1 hour guided tour, running daily at 11:30am and 1:30pm. The tour guides will transport you back to the 1800's and set the scene of what life was like in the Port of Echuca's heyday.
The Steam, Iron and Trades Revival is taking place at Rotary Park, 7 Rose Street.
Attractions include: Steam Power Displays, Working Horses, Demonstrations, Lost Trades, Classic Vehicles, Miniature Railway, and Country Cooking. Be sure not to miss this fantastic display of history!
Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Local buses and V/Line coaches can be used to reach the event - please plan ahead using the PTV Journey Planner.
The Echuca Farmers Market will be running until 12:00pm at 2 Heygarth Street, only 10 minutes walk from the Station. Walk through the variety of stalls with seasonal fruit and vegetables, preserves, flowers, baked goods and fresh meat and seafood.

ON TRAIN SERVICES
Our on-train facilities include a kiosk which stocks a range of light refreshments, snacks and hot and cold drinks. A licensed bar will also be operating, serving a range of beers, wines and spirits. A range of souvenirs will also be able for purchase from our on-board store.

You should ensure you are at the departure station at least 15 minutes prior to the advertised departure time. Please double check departure times the day prior to travelling as they can be subject to minor change.
