Watermark Art Center invites the public to the book launch for "Paintings" - a 60 year retrospective of works by Marley Kaul from 5 to 7pm on Tuesday, September 23, with a brief presentation at 5:30pm.
This book serves as Marley Kaul’s final exhibition. A dazzling celebration of color and artistic expression, the retrospective presents more than 300 images of paintings created from 1961, before Kaul became an art professor, to 2021, the year he died. Kaul’s body of work includes paintings rendered in acrylic, casein, oil, gouache, watercolor, and egg tempera, done on canvas, paper, and wood panels. His wife, art curator and weaver Sandra Staehle Kaul; son Stephen Kaul; and daughter, Allison Kaul DeLeone, organized this collection of artworks and writings.
In addition to the book launch at Watermark, there will be additional launch events in Minneapolis, Grand Forks, ND, and Bemidji State University. The Talley Gallery at Bemidji State University will present an accompanying exhibit, the “60 year Retrospective Exhibition” of Marley Kaul’s work from September 4 to October 30, 2025.
