Now in its twelfth consecutive year, our popular Go Sicily Travel Etnaland Plus 3 full day tour provides the opportunity for parents to pass some quality time and a wonderful holiday with their children, providing a range of experiences which both children and parents will remember for a long time to come. We will be trekking on a volcano crater, enjoy an evening at a world-class theme park, spend a whole day in a fantastic water park with various gentle and tough water attractions and rides, enjoy ourselves ziplining, tree climbing or relaxing underneath the shades of the high pine trees of the forest at a fantastic adventure park on the mountsins, enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Gole dell’ Alcantara and much more. All this while staying at the iconic Rifugio Sapienza, a former army barracks converted to a chalet hotel on the slopes of Mount Etna.

Day 1 (Friday 4 July 2025)
04:00 Meet at Malta International Airport for check in and embarkation on KM Malta Airlines flight KM640 to Catania
06:00 Departure to Catania
06:45 Arrival in Catania and departure to Catania historical centre
07:30 Arrival in Catania historical centre. Free time for breakfast (not included in tour price) which can be taken at one of the many cafeterias lining the Via Etnea. Free time in Catania during which one can visit the open air market or also do some personal sightseeing and shopping.
09:00 Departure to Buccheri
10:15 Arrival in Buccheri, a village on the lower part of the province of Catania. Here we will visit the Parcallario activity park (www.parcallario.it). The team at Parcallario will hand us our ziplining gear and give us a detailed explanation in English on how to do the ziplining. Under their constant surveillance, we will be able to spend the morning enjoying ourselves climbing and ziplining on trees, with a stop for lunch under the trees. There are two different courses: one for children of a young age and one for older children and adults. Those who prefer not to participate in the zip lining and tree climbing activities can enjoy themselves watching the activity under the trees or go for a walk in the forest. Free time for lunch (not included on tour price) at Parcallario.
15:00 A one hour coach journey will take us to the foot of Mount Etna, from where we will start a panoramic journey during which we will pass through a number of interesting mountain villages. During our journey, we will experience interesting alpine scenery full of vegetation before passing through the volcanic areas of Mount Etna. We will also be able to see houses which were saved from the destruction of the volcanic eruptions as also others which unfortunately had to succumb to the power of the cascading lava.
17:00 Arrival at the Etna Sud area of Mount Etna, which is located at 2000 metres above sea level. We proceed to our Hotel, the iconic historical three star superior Rifugio Sapienza (www.rifugiosapienza.com), which is strategically located bang in the centre of activity at Etna Sud, just a few metres away from the cable car station. Rifugio Sapienza was built as an army retreat in 1936 during the Fascist period and after the end of the Second World War, it was converted into a comfortable and attractive hotel and restaurant. This makes a stay at Rifugio Sapienza something of an experience which is much more than a hotel stay. Check in and allocation of rooms, followed by free time where one can perhaps have a short rest or opt to continue exploring the vibrant Etna Sud area around the hotel.

Day 2 (Saturday 05 July 2025)
07:30 onwards Buffet breakfast at the Hotel.
08:30 This morning, we will enjoy Mount Etna. One can walk to the Crateri Silvestri, located just 400 metres away from the hotel, and view a lava cave which was created during the eruption of 18 July 2001. One can then proceed to view the two picturesque Silvestri craters, which enjoy spectacular 360 degree views and provide fantastic photo opportunities. One can also opt to go on the cable car (not included in tour price), book a quad bike adventure or a mountain bike (not included in tour price) or spend time relaxing and enjoying the scenery on Mount Etna. Those opting for a trip on the cable car will be travelling a distance of 2200 metres, a journey which will take 20 minutes and which will take them from 2000 metres above sea level at Etna Sud to 2600 metres above sea level at Montagnola. The journey will afford spectacular views over the Ionian Coast below.
13:00 Lunch at the Hotel. Today, since we are visiting the Etnaland Themepark throughout the whole evening, we will have lunch at the Hotel instead of dinner.
14:30 Departure from Crateri Silvestri where we will start our descent along another panoramic slope of Mount Etna, heading towards the mountain village of Zafferana Etnea, which is known as the capital for honey.
15:00 Arrival in the picturesque village of Zafferana Etnea. Here, we will visit a small honey-producing family business, where we will attend a demonstration on beekeeping and honey production. We will have the opportunity to taste various types of honey, including the eucalyptus, chestnut and millefiori (thousand flowers) varieties, as also other typical Sicilian products such as Almond Wine and Pistacchio Liquer.
15:30 We will proceed with our coach towards the Alcantara valley. Our journey will allow us to experience beautiful panoramic views of this wonderful corner of Sicily, dominated by the towering Mount Etna and within the context of the Alcantara National Park.
16:30 Arrival in Francavilla di Sicilia. Here we will visit the Alcantara river and waterfalls, located in a setting with unusual black and grey lava rock faces within the greenery of the Alcantara Natural Park. Comfortable shoes are recommended for the visit to the waterfalls. Those who are willing to brave the ice cold waters can also opt to have a dip in the clean waters of the small lakes which we find in this area of the Alcantara.
18:15 Departure to Belpasso
19:45 Arrival at Etnaland Theme Park. We will spend the entire evening enjoying the fabulous rides and experiences within this fantastic Theme Park, including an enjoyable self-drive boat trip around the Love Lagoon and a two-seater cable car ride during which one can have a bird’s eye view over Etnaland Water Park, Etnaland Theme Park and Etnaland Prehistoric Park, before possibly moving on to more daring rides such as The Storm, Etnaland Tower, Quasar, Vertigo and more. Of course, the young ones will be more than catered for with rides such as Mad Cups (Tazze Matte), Camellotto and Cops and Robbers (Guardie e Ladri). This evening, one can have a snack for dinner (not included in tour price) from one of the various food outlets within the Theme Park.

Day 3 (Sunday 6 July 2025)

09:30 Check out from the Hotel and departure to Etnaland Water Park
10:45 Arrival at Etnaland Acquapark (www.etnaland.eu). Our day here will be one full of excitement and activity, where we will be able to enjoy the Dragon River, the Jungle Splash, the Crocodile Rapids as also the many water slides including the Dark Kamikaze, the Hydro Kamikaze, the Stuka, the Twin Twister, the Rafting River, the Black Hole, the Red Cannon and much more. We will also be able to relax in one of the many pools there, including the Lazy River, the Wave Pool and the Blue Lagoon. At the end of the day, one can freshen up by using the on-site showers and changing rooms, prior to our departure from Etnaland.
18:30 Departure to Catania
19:00 Arrival at Centro Commerciale Centro Sicilia shopping mall, a shopping paradise with around 100 shops, including also the only Primark store in Sicily. Here we will spend two hours of pure shopping therapy.
21:00 Departure to Catania airport, arriving there in time for check in and embarkation on KM Malta Airlines flight KM643 to Malta
