We've got some helpful tips if you're joining us for Silver Lake Clean up:
• Wear comfortable shoes (such as sneakers or boots).
• Please, no sandals and absolutely NO bare feet.
• Long sleeve shirts and long pants are advisable for ticks, insects and poisonous or thorny plants.
• Wear clothing appropriate for the weather. Remember to bring rain gear in case of rain and a sweater or windbreaker in any weather since it is generally windier along the shore.
• Wear Gloves
• Bring food and beverages, if so desired.
• Do not pick up any vials or syringes. Report any waste of this type to your group leader. Do not pick up any small plastic bags that may contain drugs
• Provide adequate supervision for children
• Rest as often as necessary
When you have cleaned the lake, quit for the day and pat yourself on the back for a job well done! But If you find little or no debris at the lake, that’s great, but your job may not be over quite yet, even the smallest piece of plastic and debris matters. Remember, floatable trash is persistent and may wash ashore another day. You can always be a good lake steward by bringing a trash bag with you whenever you visit the lake .
