About the musicians:
Cayley Schmid, born in Vancouver, B.C., is a fiddle player from Bellingham, WA, and the Executive Director of the Celtic Arts Foundation in Mount Vernon, WA. She is also the organizer of the fall Bellingham Celtic Festival (late September) and the past organizer of the winter Bellingham Folk Festival (late January). Starting fiddle at age 12, her musical journey quickly blossomed; by age 16, she had developed a lifelong performing partnership with cellist Clea Taylor Johnson. Originally participating in Irish dance classes and competitive Scottish Highland dancing, she soon found that she enjoyed playing the music that accompanied both styles.
Aaron Guest is a Bellingham-based multi-instrumentalist. He was the principal songwriter for the band Polecat. Along with a veriety of studio work, his current live musical projects include his solo work under the moniker A.Guest, the Jenner Fox Band, Miles Ebony & the Deeps Cuts, and Cumulus.
Cayley and Aaron met at the Bellingham Farmers Market in 2009. Desperately jealous of each other’s busking success, they neutralized the competition and started a band together. This marked the beginning of a decade-long musical partnership that eventually led to marriage. After the retirement of their band, Polecat, in 2020, Aaron and Cayley suddenly found themselves musically unsupervised by their bandmates for the first time.
