July Punch Needle Rug Making Workshop with NO Design

Join us for a July Punch Needle Rug Making Workshop with NO Design: Get ready to make your own mini rug at Chuckanut Center (located in Fairhaven in Bellingham, WA). Learn the art of punch needle as you create your own unique rug masterpiece. This is not a tufting machine class but a more "analog" entry-level way to learning about rug-making. We've extended this workshop to allow for snack breaks and time at the end to learn how to glue and back your rug. All tools, including cloth, hoop, punch needle, and yarn will be provided, but feel free to bring your own yarns to use too! We also recommend bringing your own lunch as there will be a kitchen at the venue.

What you can expect to learn:

• The history of punch needle and its global reach
• Setting up the tension on your frame/hoop
• Choosing and drawing out your pattern
• How to thread and use a punch needle tool
• Finishing the rug backing(We'll have an example demo in the workshop, but expect to finish the backing at home if you're piece isn't 100% filled by the end of class.)Grab the take-home kit in the add-on section to continue honing your rug-making at home. See you soon!
