RBQ - AKA Roger Burke Quartet/Quintet/Dectet !

This group is “Convened” by Bellingen sax man Roger Burke
Often described as “veteran” and “Irish” – “ ( .. I only do it for the money…”) Roger is the proof of the truism that you become famous by being either very good or very persistent……………….!
He’s been around a long time !

The quartet version of the band found a permanent Bellingen home at the Federal Hotel with Wed @ Fed a popular mid week scene for 18 years.

Many players have passed through the band but the inspired bass playing of my friend Bruce Stephen has always been our anchor.

Today’s RBQ is always a changing pallete of musos, including at times most of the best players in town –
eg
Trumpet players Ash Hall & Georgie Chorley,
Drummers Cary Bennett, Pete Skelton, Mark Spence,
Guitarists Santo Cimino, Mark Hoare.
Piano players Oscar Eager, Robbie Auld

The Brewery gig is 5 to 7:30 on the Third Sunday of every month and the music is strongly Blues and Swing based

The core band is Bruce Stephen on bass and Roger Burke on sax
Robbie Auld on Piano and Cary Bennett on drums and you never know, month by month, who else is going to drop in for a blow ?

This is serious music played by serious musicians
(who don’t take themselves too seriously !!!)
