THE NITTY-GRITTYThis workshop is a playful and creative exploration of acting and theatre-making. Using imagination, true stories, and lived experiences, participants will generate theatre content through improvisation and collaborative play.Together we will create scenes, link them thematically, and explore story structure through both film and theatre lenses. You’ll have the chance to act, develop characters, and experiment with writing and performance in a fun, supported space. Rooted in physical theatre and inspired by clown, character, and the poetic body, the workshop is a day of discovery, creativity, and connection.THE PROCESSFrom games, to characters, to stories. Dave’s teaching weaves play, comedy, and creativity with professional theatre practice, helping participants take risks and discover their unique voice on stage. In this space, every participant is valued as an emerging artist — not a kid — and is treated, challenged, and guided like a professional actor, invited to take risks, have fun, step out of their head, and explore new possibilities to tell your story.BY WHODave Houston has been creating and performing theatre since the age of 17. At 23, he took his first solo show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has since performed and toured nationally and internationally. He brings a wealthof experience as a performer, director, and workshop facilitator, with a focus on creativity, play, comedy, and connection.
