WBC OFFICIALS LEVEL ONE – MDL CERTIFICATION COURSE

This is the official WBC Officials Level One – MDL Certification Course, led by WBC Referee Ajarn Pete Peterson. Whether you’re aiming to become a Muay Thai official, gain deeper knowledge as a coach or athlete, or simply want to understand the rules of the sport better, this training is your entry point into the WBC officiating track and the Muay Thai Development League (MDL) ecosystem.

This classroom-style intensive will be 4–5 hours long and include:

✅ WBC Muay Thai Scoring Criteria

• Complete walkthrough of the official WBC scoring PowerPoint
• Video fight breakdowns with discussion
  
  ✅ Rules & Regulations
• Fouls, legal strikes, and scoring actions
• Protocol for corners, warnings, and point deductions
  
  ✅ Basic Referee Protocol
• Ref positioning, communication, and safety standards
  
  ✅ MDL Format Overview
• How officiating applies specifically within the MDL system
  
  ✅ Written Exam
• A short multiple-choice exam at the end of the session

Light refreshments will be provided. Please bring a notebook or tablet for notes.

Participants who complete the Level One classroom training and pass the exam will receive a Certificate of Hours from WBC Muay Thai.

You’ll also be invited to officiate live at MDL Seattle the following day on Saturday, May 31st under direct supervision from Ajarn Pete and MDL staff. This hands-on experience will include:

• Shadow judging (scorecard reviews and evaluations)
• Practical ref protocol review in live matches
• Post-event debrief and wrap-up meeting

To progress toward becoming a fully certified WBC Muay Thai Official, you must:

• Work a minimum of 100 MDL bouts
• Pass a secondary exam
• Attend the full Level Two Intensive Course (20-hour / 2-day format)

💡 Note: Experience from other organizations does not count toward WBC certification requirements. All officials must go through the official WBC Muay Thai pathway.
