This training is offered two times:
1) July 31 in Belle Glade.
2) August 7 in Palm Springs
When trauma is part of a young person’s story, the risk for substance use increases—and so does the need for informed, compassionate support. This training offers a practical look at how trauma shapes behavior, what substance use can signal in youth, and how professionals can respond with clarity and care.
We’ll explore trauma-informed strategies, examine prevention models that reflect the real challenges youth face, and address strategies to support resilience and well-being in youth-serving adults.
LEVEL - Beginner
1. Explain how trauma and early adversity increase the risk of youth substance use.
2. Recognize signs of secondary traumatic stress and compassion fatigue and identify two strategies to support resilience and well-being in youth-serving adults.
Presented by Dr Christy Karabetian, PhD, Ellie Mental Health
