Founded in Uganda in 2015, Nyege Nyege has become one of the world's most exciting music festivals. It's record labels - Hakuna Kulala & Nyege Tapes released over 100 albums, representing the most exciting music from the African continent and beyond!
Last Friday of June, 27th, come dance with two Nyege Nyege queens who have been part of the collective since the beginning - Hibotep and R3IGN DROPS.
HIBOTEP (Somalia / Ethiopia) is a sonic warrior, genre-shapeshifter, and force of nature who defies every mold. Based between Kampala and the cosmos, she channels chaos into power, building hypnotic worlds where techno, grime, gqom, hip hop, industrial, and experimental frequencies collide with East African energy and deep ancestral resonance.
R3IGN DROPS (Uganda) is a driving force in the East African club scene, known for her high-octane sets that channel the darker edges of afro house, afro tech, 3-step, and gqom. Just as comfortable delivering a peak-time blowout at Nyege Nyege Festival as opening for Black Coffee under an Ibiza sunset, her selections are charged with ritualistic energy and sweat-soaked intensity.
