The 2nd Parks for Pollinators 2025: Belfast Parks and Recreation Event is just around the corner, running September 1-30. Belfast Parks and Recreation is offering a fun nighttime activity focused on Moths! Join us at the the Belfast City Park Pavilion for this evening event.
We'll have some children's activities (crafts, stories, games) before it gets dark, and then we'll see if we can spot some different moth species in and around the pavilion using light trap, and attempt to photograph them for the BioBlitz inventory. Moths are on the list of pollinators for our BioBlitz, but capturing them on camera is harder than you think!
Be sure to have the iNaturalist app downloaded on your phone and we'll show you how to capture data during this event. Once you've seen the tips and tricks of using this powerful app, you'll be ready to head outdoors during the rest of the month to visit the project locations and capture pollinators, pollinating plants, and more!
This event is open to all ages; minimum age is 4 yrs., and all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please dress for the evening temperatures and please wear closed-toed shoes. Also, please bring a flashlight or a headlamp.
Please register for this event so that we may have a head count for any handouts and supplies.
