The 2nd Parks for Pollinators 2025: Belfast Parks and Recreation Event is just around the corner, running September 1-30.
We gathered some great first-year data from the 2024 BioBlitz, and we're hoping to expand our volunteers and data collection across all of the Belfast City parks and gardens.
Again this year, Belfast Parks and Recreation is offering an early training opportunity for all our naturalists who would like to participate in the BioBlitz this year! We'll help you learn how to use the iNaturalist app, and we'll have options for both Android and iPhone users. We'll also help you join the BioBlitz project within iNaturalist, and show you how to navigate the app and practice capturing plants and insects while at Wales Park. (See separate event for August 26--BioBlitz Training.)
Once you've seen the tips and tricks of using this powerful app, you'll be ready to head outdoors during September and visit the project locations and capture pollinators, pollinating plants, and more!
To get involved, you'll want to join the project called "Parks for Pollinators 2025: Belfast Parks and Recreation" within the iNaturalist app. Once September 1 rolls around, you can visit all of the sites listed within the project and capture pollinating plants and pollinators with your smart phone! There will be a dashboard with a tally of pollinators, number of observations, those participating, and more!
