Mary Bergin (whistle)
‘Just about the best tin whistle player this century’ is how the Irish Times refers to Mary. She was born into a very musical family and began playing at an early age winning many awards including the All-Ireland title.
Cathy Jordan (vocals)
Dervish front woman Cathy Jordan has collaborated with many renowned artists including Brendan Graham, Vince Gill, Steve Earle, Imelda May, David Gray and more. She has a deep understanding of traditional Irish songs and singing and has collected hundreds of songs which otherwise may have been forgotten.
Niamh Ní Charra (concertina) & Kevin Corbett (guitar)
Niamh Ní Charra is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist and composer who has recorded and performed with various artists including The Chieftains and Carlos Núñez and toured extensively as the featured fiddler with Riverdance. Niamh will be joined by Kevin Corbett, a much sought after guitarist from Newport, Co. Mayo.
Shane Mitchell (accordion)
Dervish co-founder Shane Mitchell hails from a family steeped in tradition. He has travelled the world over performing with Dervish who received a Lifetime Achievement award from the BBC, and the band has been described by the BBC as, “an icon of Irish music”.
Brian McDonagh (bouzouki)
Brian McDonagh is a musician and painter. From Dublin, he was member of 1970s traditional group, Oisín. He moved to Sligo in the 1980s and is a founder member of traditional group, Dervish. His art is inspired by his love of music and many of his paintings are charged with an underlying melancholy or a longing to unwind the ever-ticking clock.
Stephanie Keane (sean nós dancing)
Hailing from Limerick city, Stephanie Keane’s performance style combines the best elements of sean nós dancing with her spark of fiery individuality built on a keen sense of tradition. She connects with the music and musician and naturally understands the musician’s interpretation of the tune, her style is free flowing, energetic and wild.
Neil Martin (cello/MC)
Hosted by Neil Martin, from Belfast, who is a composer and musician with an international reputation. His work has been performed across the world from Ground Zero to Mostar Bridge and the Royal Albert Hall.
