Glassblowing Mini Sessions: Paperweight Magic

Learn how to maximize color, cane, murini, and torches to create magical sceneries in solid glass. This class will show participants how to layer different color application techniques including, drawing with cane, murini, and twisting and folding color to create solid forms with depth and dimension.

About the instructors:
Brier-Rose Werner-Brown, with over a decade of experience in glasswork, I am a dedicated glassblower and self-taught lampworker passionate about both the craft and the learning process. My blown glass is loosely inspired by the visual language of pottery — I’m drawn to the earthy forms and subtle textures, and I aim to evoke a similar feeling in glass. My lampworking is rooted in nature, often taking the shape of botanical forms that feel as if they were plucked straight from the forest floor. I have a particular interest in color, and am known for my thoughtful use and blending of glass hues. I also sell my work in several galleries throughout Midcoast Maine.

Mia Sartori is a Deer Isle based artist working in glass and mixed media sculpture. Mia is always looking for new and unconventional ways to utilize glass in her work and often focuses on the optical properties and unique textures that one can only achieve with glass.
